Nearly all states have laws permitting owners of an LLC or a Corporation to review the books and records of the company upon written demand to the other owners.
Most states’ laws require the other owners to provide the information so requested.
If the information is not provided upon proper request, the owner issuing the notice to review the books and records would have a right to proceed to court to obtain an order compelling the production of such records.
But the court process to compel the other owners may be somewhat complicated, and seeking the advice of an attorney prior to proceeding to court may be advisable. To find a local attorney for FREE to help you with your situation, see Standard Legal’s Attorney Find page.
