Can a Non-Lawyer Chief Executive Represent His Corporation Pro Se in a Legal Matter?

Typically, an executive director or CEO can represent a corporation in day-to-day business functions. But the chief executive of a corporation or LLC cannot represent the corporation in a court of law, as legal counsel, or as part of a litigation.

Since a corporation is a stand-alone entity from a legal perspective, it is impossible for pro se or ‘self-representation’ to be provided to the corporation or LLC by a third party; third party representation goes against the very definition of “pro se self-representation”.
