If My Father Made a New Will But Didn’t Show it to All Siblings, Is It Invalid?

While it is wise for the Maker of a new Last Will and Testament to distribute copies to all of the potential beneficiaries of that new document, there is no legal obligation to do so.

The failure to widely distribute a new version of a Will does NOT make that new version invalid.

The new Will is valid from the date it is signed and witnessed. Any previous Will is invalidated when the new Will is signed.

It is wise to distribute the new Will to multiple persons so that the intentions for the revision are clear, and to ensure the new document is used at the time of death.
